Higher Learning Commission Mark of Affiliation Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP)

Dakota State University was accepted into the Higher Learning Commission's Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP) in February 2005.

Dakota State University's participation in AQIP reflects an ongoing commitment to applying continuous improvement principles and processes to higher education and to organizational learning and development. For DSU, applying for participation in the AQIP accreditation process was a natural outgrowth of its strong commitment to and culture of institutional improvement.

AQIP CircleThe AQIP accreditation process works in tandem and harmony with DSU's existing strategic planning and project review processes and provides an improvement framework that focuses on data analysis and the achievement of its published goals and objectives. The AQIP cycle is composed of several steps, culminating in a Reaffirmation of Accreditation at the end of a seven-year cycle.

AQIP'sPrinciples of High Performance Organizations describe the characteristics participating colleges and universities strive to embed within their culture. Research and experience indicate that these principles permeate organizations that have achieved a systematic approach to continuous quality improvement. AQIP has identified nine categories for institutions to show evidence of continuing to meet the HLC's Criteria for Accreditation.
