Business Technology (BBA)

It's no secret that today's businesses rely on technology. To really succeed in business today, you’ll need business fundamentals and a command of technology.

You’ll learn all this and more at DSU. Our technical focus will help you develop an understanding of modern business practices and prepare you to lead a technical team. You'll also be able to write and maintain computer programs and information systems that make businesses more effective.

Benefits of studying business technology at DSU

Business technology classes are known for their high-tech, personal touch. The student–faculty ratio in most classes is just 20:1. You’ll find professors who are involved with technology research and business ventures outside the classroom. Plus, DSU brings you in contact with the latest and greatest technology so you can enter the workforce fully prepared.

DSU’s College of Business and Information Systems is also home to the Center of Excellence in Computer Information Systems and the Center for Academic Excellence in Information Assurance. And even as a business technology undergraduate, you'll be able to take part in real research opportunities.

At DSU, you can make connections and practice your skills in an internship at leading businesses in the state. Due to the high demand for DSU grads, most students find their first job after graduation without ever leaving campus.

Outside of class, there are a number of student clubs and activities to join, including Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) Business Club, Computer Club, Gaming Club, and the Kappa Sigma Iota (KSI) Honorary Society. Scholarships and grants are also available for business technology students.

ACBSP LogoOur bachelor of business administration program is one of the few in South Dakota accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). This means that in addition to meeting all evaluation criteria and curriculum standards, DSU is also involved in the creation of innovative programs. This additional accreditation means your degree will be recognized wherever you go.
