Potential careers
Develop a strong background in composition, literature, and languages. Gain skills in composition and computer applications for creating content. Study Grammar, Shakespeare, and Literary Criticism. Try out creative writing, and graphic communication. Leave prepared to teach composition, literature, and speech in secondary schools.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the BS degree in English: English Education, students will:
- Have followed a specific curriculum and will have met appropriate performance assessments for pre-service English language arts teachers
- Be able to adopt and strengthen professional attitudes needed by English language arts teachers through modeling, advisement, instruction, field experiences, assessment of performance, and involvement in professional organizations
- Be knowledgeable about language; literature; oral, visual, and written literacy; print and non-print media; technology; and research theory and findings
- Acquire and demonstrate the dispositions and skills needed to integrate the knowledge of English language arts, students, and teaching
