College of Computing

The College of Computing houses some of the most in-demand and high-paying career fields in technology. This is where you can immerse yourself in the technology game along with creating a fun and lucrative career.  

Dakota State University is a Center of Excellence designated by the National Security Agency and The Department of Homeland Security. The undergraduate degree in cyber operations is the top technical program in the country where you will get to learn both defensive and offensive hacking techniques in cool (but safe) labs. Our tech-savviness doesn’t just stop in cyber operations either, we use this expertise in computer science, game design, network and security administration.

Cyber Corps Alumni Endowed Scholarship

This endowment was established in 2011 with a grant awarded to DSU Professor Dr. Josh Pauli from the National Science Foundation Scholarship for Service program and the Department of Defense Information Assurance Scholarship program. Scholarship for Service is a unique program designed to increase and strengthen the cadre of federal information assurance professionals that protect the government’s critical information infrastructure. This program provides scholarships that fully fund the typical costs that students pay for books, tuition, and room and board while attending an approved institution of higher learning. 

Tom Halverson Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Tom Halverson to support students in the College of Computing.

Blue Hue Inc. Endowed Scholarship

James Tower established this endowment to provide a scholarship to a junior or senior majoring in Digital Arts and Design, Computer Graphics, Web Design and Production, or Digital Storytelling and Production Animation as well as students majoring in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science and Computer and Network Security. Students must also have high academic standards and demonstrate strong scholarly ability. 

Leo E. King and Jesse M. King Endowed Scholarship

Leo E. King and the late Jessie M. (Wood) King established this endowed scholarship to be awarded to an incoming freshman who is majoring in Computer Science. Preference is given to student from the South Dakota counties of Sanborn, Miner, Hanson, and Davison. 

Helen Walker Memorial Endowment

Robert “Bob” and Doris Walker established this scholarship in 2010 in memory of Bob’s mother, Helen. She believed in getting an education and passed that belief down to her family. She was born in Madison and after graduating from high school went on to earn three degrees from Dakota State University. This scholarship is awarded to a female computer science major with a 3.0 or greater GPA.
