Individualized Student Coaching / Academic Advising

Advising at DSU

Educational theorist Richard Light states that "good advising may be the single most underestimated characteristic of a successful college experience."

At DSU, and under the Title III grant, students in the College of Arts & Sciences and Beacom College of Computer and Cyber Sciences work with a Professional Academic Advisor to assist in the transition to college.

To schedule an appointment with an advisor, please use Starfish.

Advisors work with students on many different parts of the university experience. Some of those include:

  • Setting a strong academic foundation from the beginning
  • Creating goals: academic, career and professional
  • Selecting courses for upcoming semesters
  • Enhance study skills
  • Refer students to accurate resources on campus

On-Campus Students: Sign-up for an on-campus DSU registration day.

Distance Students:  Contact Office of Online Education.

Transfer Students or Adult Learners: Contact DSU’s Office of Admissions.

Advisors host 3 hours of walk-in appointments each week. To schedule a 1:1 appointment, please log into Starfish to select a date/time that works for you.
