Champion Scholarships

DSU Champion ScholarshipsStudents who demonstrate academic excellence should be recognized for their hard work. Scholarships help acknowledge the academic excellence of our students, particularly our champion scholarship program.

Our champion scholarships are awarded at four different levels, dependent upon an individual’s high school GPA and standardized test scores. If a student continues to meet this high academic standard these awards can be renewed annually for up to four years.

Scholarship money for champion scholarships ranges from $750 to $5,000 annually. The champion scholarships are funded through annual and endowed funds.

If chosen as a Champion Scholar, your photo will be taken for marketing purposes. Please fill out the hometown news release form

The DSU Champion Annual Scholarships were established in 2003 as a four year guarantee of $4,000 ($1,000 per year). You don’t need to apply for Champion Scholarships—we award them automatically based on certain academic criteria upon admission. Since 2006 they have been divided into three levels.

This scholarship is only available for eight semesters of enrollment, which includes the semesters completed at your other post-secondary institution(s) or college(s).

Any high school student who enrolls at DSU as a full time, first time freshman and earned dual credits from Dakota State is eligible for a Go Blue Dual Credit Scholarship. These two-year scholarships are awarded based on the number of DSU dual credits earned:

  • 1 – 8 credit hours = $750 a year for two years
  • 9 or more credit hours = $1200 a year for two years.

In addition, students must have earned a “C” or higher in their dual credit courses. While at DSU, students must maintain a 3.0 GPA to receive the scholarship for the second year.

This scholarship doesn’t replace other awards, it is in addition to other scholarships earned.
