Institutional Committees

CURRICULUM COMMITTEE

The Committee reviews present curricula and recommends any necessary changes to the President.  The Committee is also charged with ensuring that standards of all state and national accrediting bodies are met.

GENERAL ACTIVITY FUND ALLOCATIONS COMMITTEE

The Committee is responsible for the allocation of fee income to some twenty campus programs, organizations, and activities, DSU Policy 4-36-00.  

LIBRARY COMMITTEE

The Library Committee meets to recommend budgeting of library funds, assists the librarian in formulating general library policies and regulations which govern the functions of the library, and to interpret the purposes and needs of the library to the administration, faculty, and the student body, and to communicate to the library areas of concern and strengths as perceived by the DSU community, DSU Policy 4-50-00.

PLANNING COUNCIL

The Council meets monthly to consider issues related to the operation of the campus and serves in an advisory role to the President.

ASSESSMENT COORDINATING COMMITTEE

The Assessment Coordinating Committee fulfills an advisory, monitoring, coordinating and regulatory role at Dakota State University in assessment matters and advises the Vice President for Academic Affairs on the implementation of the DSU Academic Assessment Plan, DSU Policy 04-15-00.

ATHLETIC COMMITTEE

The principle function of the Athletic Committee is to advise the Dakota State University administration on all major decisions affecting the administration of the Athletic Department.  The Committee shall recommend policy on intercollegiate athletics to the Athletic Director and to the President, DSU Policy 04-08-00.

BARRIER-FREE LEARNING COMMITTEE

BOOKSTORE USERS COMMITTEE

The Bookstore Users Committee is established to advise the Vice President for Student Services and Bookstore Director on the Bookstore's operating and financial goals and practices, DSU Policy 04-31-00.

COMPUTING RESOURCES ADVISORY COMMITTEE (CRAC)

CRAC is an advisory committee established to educate, plan, communicate, coordinate, and evaluate for the effective and efficient use of computing, networking, and technology resources for academic, administrative, and outreach programs.  The Committee will provide recommendations on staffing, organizational structures, resource, and training needs to the Planning Council.  The Committee will establish DSU policies to ensure all computing activities are conducted in compliance with governing statutes, audit guidelines, and license agreements, DSU Policy 04-55-00.

CONTINUOUS QUALITY IMPROVEMENT (CQI) LEADERSHIP COMMITTEE

The CQI Committee performs an advisory, monitoring, coordinating, and regulatory role at Dakota State University in quality improvement activities.  The Committee supports and encourages the campus community to engage in quality improvement activities.  The Committee’s responsibilities include communicating and coordinating the campuses quality improvement efforts, DSU Policy 04-05-00.

DIVERSITY COMMITTEE

The Diversity Committee serves in an advisory role to the Office of Diversity Services and assists in implementing and monitoring the University Diversity Plan.

PARKING COMMITTEE

The purpose of the Committee is to recommend policy that governs parking for DSU and to hear appeals of parking violations, DSU Policy 04-39-00.  

RISK MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

The Risk Management Committee develops and implements policies pertaining to risk management issues on the campus, DSU Policy 04-40-00.

STUDENT SUCCESS COMMITTEE

This committee oversees and coordinates the various projects associated with student success.  Membership includes project champions for current retention/student success projects, with the VP for Student Affairs and VP for Academic Affairs serving as co-chairs. Sub-committees with additional membership may be formed as needed, DSU Policy 04-12-00.

UNIVERSITY RESEARCH COMMITTEE

The University Research Committee brings all elements of institutional and faculty research together including human subject review and animal use functions to enhance and deploy University resources in support of research and scholarship.  The role of the University Research Committee is to encourage and support faculty and students in engaging in scholarly activities.  Scholarly activities are defined as applying for research grants, conducting research, applying for patents and copyrights, and disseminating research results through presentations in local, national, and international conferences and publishing in peer-reviewed publications, DSU Policy 04-80-00.

UNIVERSITY CLUB FUNDING COMMITTEE

The Committee allocates vending funds to recognized student organizations and monitors the use of funds through review of monthly reports submitted by club treasurers.  (Advisors of recognized student organizations eligible for vending funds may not serve.)
