SDBOR Policy 2.8.1 Academic Grading and Use of Grade Point Averages

I. REASON FOR THIS POLICY

This policy establishes DSU procedures for implementing SDBOR policies related to drop/add and related tuition/fees refunds when students request necessary class changes during the scheduled drop-add session indicated in the academic calendar.

II. DEFINITIONS

None

III. STATEMENT OF POLICY

  1. Refunds. The University shall refund full tuition and specified fees for courses officially dropped during the late registration period.
  2. Dropping a Class. Students may drop a class during the census-drop/add period (found in the academic calendar) and receive a refund for the full tuition and fees charged for that class. Students may drop a class after the drop/add period to receive a W grade and no refund; the deadline is published in the academic calendar and the DSU academic catalogs.

IV. PROCEDURES (MAJOR)

  1. Students wishing to drop a class may do so in Self-Service Banner.
  2. Students who want to withdraw from all of their courses for a term can do so by completing the online form below to initiate the request.
  3. Students should visit an academic advisor prior to initiating a full withdrawal.
