Midwest Forage Association meeting at DSU

The Midwest Forage Association (MFA) meeting is being held at Dakota State University on Tuesday, Feb. 28.
Dr. Andrew Sathoff worked with Sara Bauder, Forage Extension Agent with South Dakota State University, to arrange the meeting on campus.
This is the first meeting MFA will have in South Dakota, Sathoff said. The meeting will start with registration at 9 a.m., followed by several sessions on various topics.
A representative of Boadwine Dairy, a regional leader in sustainability, will be one of the event’s featured speakers. Boadwine Dairy received a 2022 U.S. Dairy Sustainability Award.
The meeting will provide attendees to learn more about forages, network with industry professionals, and ask forage-related questions.
The MFA event is hosted in collaboration with South Dakota State University Extension and the Northern Plains Forage Association.
Other sessions will cover the following topics:
- Understanding the Nitrogen Credit in the Alfalfa to Corn Rotation
- Research & Policy Accomplishments of MFA & National Alfalfa & Forage Alliance
- Forage Crop Rotations Utilizing Cover Crops
- Crop Insurance Coverage for Alfalfa & Dairy Risk Management Policies
- Sustainability and Profitability for the Future of the Dairy Industry
- SDSU Forage Research Update
The meeting will be in the Karl Mundt Library, room 201. Registration before Tuesday, Feb. 21, will be at a discounted rate. Visit midwestforage.org/SDmeeting.php to register in advance. On-site registration will be available at a higher cost.
