Preparation + opportunity = success

That's the DSU equation. We're a four-year university with nationally recognized programs, cutting-edge facilities, and the brightest thinkers. But we're also a tight-knit, inclusive community. Small class sizes mean hands-on training and individualized attention. All this with an affordable, public school price that's among the best values in the region.

“Andrew brings the variety of marketing experience that we need to continue to elevate Dakota State,” said José-Marie Griffiths, President of Dakota State. “He has worked on university-wide, overarching marketing campaigns, but also has experience with the daily operations and procedures of a marketing & communications department. This broad-based knowledge will benefit DSU as we branch out with new academic programs, expand our research facilities, and grow our athletics programs.”

Sogn said he plans to build relationships and work alongside teammates on campus, in Madison and the surrounding communities, and throughout the industries where Trojans make their impact every day.

“Everywhere you look, there are stories of success as DSU fulfills its mission of developing lifelong learners, problem solvers, innovators, and leaders. There is a contagious momentum felt in every conversation and every corner of campus. You can’t help but be excited about where DSU is headed,” Sogn said. “I’m thrilled to join Dakota State University, and I am grateful to President Griffiths, University leadership and the search committee for entrusting me with this opportunity.”

He began his duties this week. “It will be our marketing team’s goal to highlight and amplify the stories of Trojan excellence and further the strength and reach of the Dakota State University brand each and every day.”

Sogn, a native of Sioux Falls, S.D., is a graduate of Augustana University with a B.A. in sports management, and business administration and journalism minors. He also has a master’s degree from Fort Hays State (Kansas).

He and his wife, Alex, reside in Brookings, S.D., with their son, Anson.
