Biography

Dr. Chad Fenner is an Assistant Professor in the Beacom College of Computer & Cyber Sciences. He is a dissertation chair and committee member to individuals in the DSU Cyber Defense Ph.D. program. He also contributes to various campus activities including DakotaCon, GenCyber, and STEM summer camps.

Prior to joining the faculty at DSU, Dr. Fenner was a professor at a university in North Dakota where he taught undergraduate and graduate courses in cybersecurity topics. He worked on persons with disabilities grants prior to instructing for over 15 years doing IT support, web admin, sys admin, and trainings. Previous to working with grants, Dr. Fenner worked for IBM Global Services and Backup/Recovery.

Dr. Fenner continues to do outreach to Tribal Colleges and Universities and the reservations in the upper Midwest. He continues to look at increasing knowledge and opportunities for rural communities. Visits, camps, conferences and other activities continue to allow interactions with underserved community need for emerging technology knowledge.
