Dakota State University students walking around campus

Preparation + opportunity = success

That's the DSU equation. We're a four-year university with nationally recognized programs, cutting-edge facilities, and the brightest thinkers. But we're also a tight-knit, inclusive community. Small class sizes mean hands-on training and individualized attention. All this with an affordable, public school price that's among the best values in the region.

DAD students fundraise for Feeding South Dakota

April 17, 2023

Dakota State Digital Arts & Design (DAD) students and faculty are fundraising for Feeding South Dakota this Thursday, April 20, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Sundog Coffee.

“Because the fundraiser is for feeding people, the theme has always been food,” said Angela Behrends, Assistant Professor in the College of Arts & Sciences. “Everybody eats, everybody has to eat, so it’s an accessible idea in sculpture, 2-D digital and analog design, photography, almost any media or material.”

Feeding South Dakota is a mobile food bank serving all 66 counties in South Dakota. Behrends said that by fundraising for Feeding South Dakota, DSU students and faculty are supporting the larger South Dakota community and potentially helping family, friends, and neighbors directly.

Items available for purchase include magnets, matted photos, fine art, cards, and digital painting.

She expressed gratitude to Sundog Coffee for hosting the fundraiser and agreeing to donate a portion of their sales for the day to Feeding South Dakota.

The community is invited to contribute to the fundraiser. “It feels good to give and be a part of something bigger than yourself,” Behrends said.
