DSU welcomes students on campus for April events
March 28, 2025
Dakota State’s College of Business & Information Systems will welcome middle and high school students for two events in April.
On Tuesday, April 1, 103 eighth graders from four regional schools will visit DSU to participate in the fourth annual Junior Achievement (JA) in a Day.
The Junior Achievement organization is dedicated to inspiring and preparing young people for success. JA in a Day events expose middle school students to entrepreneurship concepts through Junior Achievement programming titled, “It’s my Business.”
“Nine instructors and eight DSU student chaperones are volunteering their time to help the day-long camp,” said Wendy Jansen-Simmermon, event organizer and College of Business & Information Systems lecturer.
The program gives students the opportunity to learn how to turn an idea into a business, teaching them problem-solving skills and giving them an authentic entrepreneurial experience.
The day-long camp will end with a product-pitch competition for the participants.
Scrubs Camp
On Wednesday, April 9, regional students will visit Dakota State for DSU’s Scrubs Camp. The annual event introduces high school students to health careers such as biology, health information management, and counseling services.
Attendees will have the chance to participate in hands-on activities related to healthcare fields. Dakota State invited local partners such as Madison Regional Health System, Kore Cares, SDSU Nursing, and Avera McKennan – Telehealth to run a portion of the sessions.
The Scrubs Camp is sponsored by the South Dakota Department of Health.
