Montgomery artwork selected for gallery show

December 3, 2025

Artwork by Dakota State University Professor Alan Montgomery has been selected for Eclosion: The Act of Emerging at the Koch Hazard Gallery in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Painting of a cardinal.

Koch Hazzard Architects invited four regional artists to display their work during the holiday season. Montgomery describes the artwork as a diverse range of subjects and genres displayed includes landscapes and birds that inhabit these same environments.

“The exhibition also pays homage to art history and the human figure,” Montgomery said. “My work, which is deeply intertwined in nature, presents both representational and abstract pieces that address the same themes.”

The show, which features work by Angela Behrends, Ginny Freitag, and Scott Parsons in addition to Montgomery, is available for viewing through Dec. 30. The exhibition viewing hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and 8:30 a.m. to noon on Fridays. All artwork is available for purchase.

“On behalf of the artists, I want to express our gratitude to Koch-Hazzard for the invitation and their unwavering support for our work,” Montgomery said.
