Digital Accessibility Steering Committee

Dakota State University's Digital Accessibility Policy, sets forth accessibility expectations, all new digital content created and used internally at the University, as well as technology systems, platforms, and applications bought or built by the University. The Policy calls for the University to establish a Digital Accessibility Steering Committee (DASC).

Mission

DASC’s mission is to promote Digital Accessibility for the university. In doing so the committee will be a champion in supporting, guiding, and enforcing DSU’s Digital Accessibility Policy.

Vision

DASC’s vision is to always maintain the highest level of ADA compliance possible to improve the user experience for individuals with disabilities.

Purpose

The purpose of the DASC includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • The DASC shall ensure that accessibility policy and plans are implemented and maintained.
  • The DASC members shallserve as a resource for digital accessibility compliance.
  • The DASC will prioritize the accessibility plans and initiatives based on site criticality and volume of traffic.
  • The DASC will oversee remediation efforts and work with site owners and content owners to ensure remediation plans are executed.
  • The DASC will promote training forsite owners and content owners to promote a culture of awareness and responsibility for Digital Accessibility
