DSU hosts VEX V5 State Robotics Championship
February 24, 2026
Dakota State University is hosting the VEX V5 State Robotics Championship for middle and high school students on Friday, February 27 and Saturday, February 28 in the Dakota State Fieldhouse.
VEX V5 is a robotics STEM learning system featuring opportunity for hands-on engineering and software coding. Participating teams will compete in Push Back, across a 12x12 square field. These competitions teach students critical computational thinking skills, as well as valuable soft skills such as teamwork, communication, and time management.
Middle and high school robotics teams (grades 6-12) from across the state first competed in Madison in December at the DSU qualifier. The competition resumes this weekend.
Over 30 teams will arrive on Friday afternoon and must be checked in by 5:45 p.m. with qualification matches beginning at 6 p.m. On Saturday, doors will open at 8 a.m., with a Welcome Ceremony at 9 a.m. followed by qualification matches beginning at 9:30 a.m. The event will also include a Senior Presentation Ceremony at 12:45 p.m., followed by more competition, with eliminations and finals taking place at 3 p.m. followed by an Awards Ceremony to wrap up the competition at 4:30 p.m.
The public is invited to cheer on the teams throughout the weekend.
