Podhradsky keynote speaker at OSMOSIS conference

Dr. Ashley Podhradsky has been named the keynote speaker for the 2019 OSMOSIS conference. She will speak at the conference on Monday, October 14.
Developed in 2015 by open source intelligence (OSINT) investigators for the legal, law enforcement, investigative, business and accounting community, the OSMOSIS conference is intended as professional development for investigators. It brings the most cutting-edge methodologies and power techniques to get actionable search results, says their website, osmosiscon.com. The focus is on sharing new OSNIT investigative approaches with the practitioner community.
Digital forensics is a passion for Podhradsky. In addition to being associate dean of The Beacom College of Computer and Cyber Sciences and associate professor of information assurance and forensics, Podhradsky is founding director of DigForCE, an innovative forensics program at DSU which investigates the use of digital forensics for cyber enforcement. This is a division of the research and development division Madison Cyber Labs.
“OSMOSIS is the direct community DigForCE works with, so it is a prime opportunity to highlight what DigForCE is doing to help law enforcement investigate cybercrime in South Dakota,” Podhradsky said.
The OSMOSIS conference also addresses another of her passions, women leading cyber. Podhradsky is co-founder of CybHER, a DSU outreach program that empowers, motives and educates girls in cybersecurity through camps and other events. In addition, “we routinely have high-profile national and international leaders in the field speak at DSU,” Podhradsky said, “and we have many more planned.”
Two of the 13 OSMOSIS speakers have presented at DSU, including: Cynthia Hetherington, founder and president of the Hetherington Group, who was named the 2019 CybHER Warrior; and Amber Schroader, president and CEO of Paraben Corporation, who spoke at the 2019 North/South Dakota NCWIT Awards and the 2019 GenCyber Girls camp.
“DSU is leading in cybersecurity education,” Podhradsky stated. “Our faculty continue to be invited to share the work and research for The Beacom College of Computer and Cyber Sciences, and it is an honor to participate and be invited to events such as the Osmosis Conference.”
