Dakota State University students walking around campus

Preparation + opportunity = success

That's the DSU equation. We're a four-year university with nationally recognized programs, cutting-edge facilities, and the brightest thinkers. But we're also a tight-knit, inclusive community. Small class sizes mean hands-on training and individualized attention. All this with an affordable, public school price that's among the best values in the region.

DSU moves to online-only for remainder of spring semester

March 16, 2020

We are experiencing an unprecedented time in our state, country, and world as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic and make decisions that are in the best interest of everyone in the South Dakota Board of Regents (SDBOR) system. The health and safety of our students, faculty and staff throughout the state remain our top priority and we continue to monitor the situation around the clock.

DSU CORONAVIRUS UPDATES

As of March 16, there are no confirmed cases on the Dakota State campus, or in Lake County, but considering the continued high risk of exposure throughout the United States and in the interest of public safety, the SDBOR and Dakota State University are taking the following actions:

  • Beginning Monday, March 23, all classes will be temporarily moved online.
  • On-campus, in-person classes are currently scheduled to resume after this two-week period, on Monday, April 6. Because this situation continues to evolve, SDBOR and DSU will reassess and provide updates no later than March 27 to determine if the online instruction period will be extended.
  • A decision regarding commencement will be announced no later than Easter weekend.

Select campus offices will remain open at this time to support students, faculty, and staff. The Karl Mundt Library will be open limited hours to DSU staff and students only, and dining services will be open limited hours for students and staff working on campus.

Anyone with questions should call the DSU Coronavirus Hotline at (605) 291-2351. The hotline will be staffed Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. CDT.  Messages left after hours will be returned the next workday.

As leaders in higher education, we are thankful for the many individuals who have worked tirelessly over the past several weeks, providing expertise to help navigate these difficult times that still include a level of uncertainty. We understand the impact this has on our students, faculty, staff, parents and other stakeholders. We empathize and ask for your patience and flexibility as we move forward.
