Six named Gamewell Family, SBS scholarship winners
September 10, 2020
It's an exciting time of year for Dr. Pam Rowland and Dr. Ashley Podhradsky, as the colleagues are able to award SBS Cybersecurity and Gamewell Family Endowed Scholarships to deserving CybHER students. This fall six students were awarded scholarships based on their exemplary leadership and cyber skills.
Rowland is assistant professor of Computer Science and Cyber Security and co-coordinator of the Center of Excellence, and Undergraduate Research Coordinator. Podhradsky is associate dean of The Beacom College of Computer and Cyber Sciences and associate professor of Information Assurance and Forensics.
While it is a pleasure to award the scholarships, there is a serious purpose behind the awards.
“If you are a true leader in the cybersecurity industry you will not only support diversity in the industry.... you will embrace it, encourage it, and demand it,” said Aaron Gamewell, CEO of SBS CyberSecurity.
“This scholarship program is one of the ways SBS can contribute to the growth and diversity of the cyber workforce.”
The SBS CyberSecurity and Gamewell Family Foundation Scholarship was first granted in 2018, and has been awarded to students each semester since. Including the Fall 2020 group, 20 students have received a total of $7,500.
Gamewell said those at SBS have “truly enjoyed watching the number of scholarship recipients grow each semester. The first year we awarded two scholarships and this semester we awarded six!”

- Shiann Baker, a cyber operations/computer science double major
- Hayley Crawford, a cyber operations major from Tea, S.D.
