November 5, 2021
Dakota State is hosting the second annual Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA-PBL) State Leadership Conference on Wednesday, Nov. 10.
Students and advisors from Northern State University and Presentation College in Aberdeen, S.D. will be attending the event. They will join DSU PBL members in participating in motivational general sessions, professional development, networking, and more.
Attendees will complete a community service project, creating no-sew blankets that will be donated to the local Inter-Lakes Community Action Partnership, according to Dr. Yenling Chang, advisor for DSU’s PBL Club.
“FBLA-PBL’s conferences help students prepare for careers in business by focusing on academic competitions and leadership development,” Chang said. The conferences are a place to network and develop leadership skills.
As part of the event, there will be a panel discussion that is open to the entire DSU campus, in addition to conference attendees, and will be live-streamed.
“The panel discussion focuses on innovation and integration,” Chang said. “Each of the panelists will take turns discussing how the integration of technology is happening in his/her business area and what challenges they are facing in the industry during the COVID pandemic.”
There are four panelists, Jay Mennis with Manitou Group, Aaron Clayton with Eide Bailly, Tammy Miller with Madison Regional Health System, and Floyd Rummel with First PREMIER Bank. Together they will provide insight into the industries of health care, financial services, accounting services, and manufacturing.
DSU PBL President Jacia Christiansen will moderate the panel discussion that will take place at 11 a.m. at the Dakota Prairie Playhouse. To event can be live-streamed at https://youtu.be/dDym9O7AU00.
