Record-breaking fundraising at DSU Sutton Bay event
June 28, 2022
In its second year, the DSU Sutton Bay event raised $393,000 in cash donations and pledges.
This accounts for approximately 38% of DSU athletics scholarship dollars, up from the nearly 30% milestone reached at last year’s event, according to Jeff Dittman, DSU Athletics Director.
“With this increase, we will be able to offer more dollars to our coaches, which will allow them to recruit quality local and regional student-athletes to DSU,” he said.
While DSU coaches have done a tremendous job with the dollars allocated to them, additional scholarship money allows them to be even more successful in recruiting athletes that will elevate Dakota State teams to the conference championship level, Dittman explained.
The 24 attendees enjoyed two days of golfing and fishing at Sutton Bay while supporting and celebrating Dakota State Athletics, said Logan Wagner, Assistant Director of Development for Athletics.
“We are so fortunate to have the backing of alumni, friends, and community members to not only build amazing facilities, but also provide the scholarships needed to bring top-notch student-athletes to DSU,” Wagner said.
The event is hosted by First PREMIER Bank/PREMIER Bankcard along with Miles and Lisa Beacom and would not be possible without them. “The Beacoms continue to show their gracious and generous support in so many different capacities,” Wagner said.
Dittman is very thankful for the Beacoms support. “They have been leaders in helping the Dakota State athletic department grow the scholarship program.,” he stated.
“We look forward to continuing this growth in scholarship dollars,” Dittman added. “And we look forward to working with other alumni and supporters who believe in the mission of Dakota State and the benefits that participation in athletics provides.”
