Sam Bloom photography featured in DSU Art Gallery

Sioux Falls-based photographer Sam Bloom has returned to his hometown of Madison for an exhibition in DSU’s First Bank & Trust Art Gallery.
The young artist’s work explores fashion and beauty photography, influenced by his time studying photography in New York after graduating high school.
His artist statement describes his collection, Sunday Night Dream, as “inspired by fleeting moments of reality and subconscious, as well as the fiction that lies within the two.”
A reception for the artist and his work was held on September 13, during which he spoke with DSU students and attendees. He shared the importance of physical and online portfolios, what it’s like to go from Madison to New York City, artists who inspire him, and more.
As a photographer and makeup artist, he stressed the significance of transformation in his work.
“Long before I discovered my love for art, I had an affinity with transformation,” he said.
The exhibit is on display through Friday, Oct. 13. The First Bank & Trust Art Gallery is on the second floor of the Karl E. Mundt Library and is open during regular library hours.
