The Health Informatics and Information Management associate degree program and the Health Care Coding Certificate program are eligible providers of South Dakota’s Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program.
The WIOA became law in July of 2014, and is “designed to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the job market,” according to the S.D. Department of Labor & Regulation.
Through this program, employment and training services are made available for adults, dislocated workers, and youth. Additionally, adult education and literacy programs and vocational rehabilitation state grant programs assist individuals with disabilities in obtaining employment administered by the U.S. Department of Education.
“The WIOA program in South Dakota helps individuals who want to re-skill and re-tool to complete educational programs to learn a new profession without the debt burden while becoming qualified for new opportunities for advancing in the workforce,” Spohn said.
