Senior FDIC examiner to speak at DSU
February 9, 2024
Dakota State University’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Club is bringing Andy McQuistan, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) Senior Examiner, to campus to speak to students.
On Tuesday, Feb. 20, McQuistan will provide an overview of the FDIC, talk about its key operations, and share job opportunities for the office located in Sioux Falls, S.D.
The FBLA Club chose to bring someone from FDIC to campus to help students understand the importance of banking management and regulations, due to the significance of the banking industry in South Dakota, according to advisor, Dr. Yenling Chang.
McQuistan was selected because of his positive interactions with students at the DSU career fair last fall.
“Mr. McQuistan not only expressed a willingness to engage with students but also offered to come and speak to classes,” Chang said. “As a senior bank examiner, his expertise and enthusiasm for discussing topics related to the banking industry made him a compelling choice for the FBLA Club.”
Chang said that students who attend the event will gain valuable insight into the banking industry, career opportunities in South Dakota, and the intricacies of banking practices and regulations.
The event is open to all students at DSU. Even those looking at careers other than finance or banking can benefit from attending the event, as banking is an integral part of daily life for everyone.
“Learning about banking examinations and regulations can equip students with essential knowledge for both personal financial management and potential career paths,” Chang added.
McQuistan will be speaking in East Hall 100 from 12:20 to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 20. There will also be an option to attend virtually.
