Dakota State University will offer a new interdisciplinary degree program in Digital Content Creation beginning fall 2024.
On April 4, the S.D. Board of Regents approved the bachelor’s degree in Digital Content Creation.
In 2021, LinkedIn listed Digital Content Creator as one of the top 15 in-demand jobs and that demand continues to rise.
Students enrolled in the program will develop skills and expertise in business, digital arts, audio design, English, communication, and more. Upon completion, graduates will be proficient in industry standard hardware and software to help them create multimedia content and manage media campaigns in a variety of mediums for various platforms, apps, and media channels.
The Digital Content Creation program will teach students how to create and deploy technology-heavy social media campaigns and track and adapt them to the ever-changing internet landscape.
“This interdisciplinary degree aligns with our special focus dedicated to new innovative ideas and championing current and emerging technologies,” said Dr. Rebecca Hoey, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs. “At DSU we are well positioned to deliver a distinctive program incorporating communication and marketing with content creation and traditional media production tailored for social media and emerging digital platforms.”
These skills will prepare graduates for roles in businesses and organizations like social media manager, digital content creator, digital producer, digital marketing manager, and digital communications manager.
