DSU Announces CyberCorps Scholars

Dakota State University announces 11 undergraduate students selected as CyberCorps scholars as funded by DSU’s $4.8M award from the National Science Foundation’s Scholarship for Service program in 2014. These 11 DSU students join a select group of 500 scholars around the nation funded by the CyberCorps program.

As undergraduate students, these CyberCorps scholars receive 30 credits of tuition and fees, a $22,500 stipend, $2,000 in books and supplies, and $4,000 in professional development per year. As a graduate student, these scholars receive 24 credits of tuition and fees, a $34,000 stipend, $2,000 in books and supplies, and $4,000 in professional development per year. A student’s scholarship can be renewed yearly up to three years. In exchange for the scholarship, these students are required to work as civilian employees at the federal, state, local, or tribal government level for as many years as they are on scholarship.

Corey Hermann – Cyber Operations, Fargo, ND

Dylan Johnson – Cyber Operations – Lake Wilson, MN

Joshua Klosterman – Network & Security Administration – Brandon, SD

Thomas Lange – Cyber Operations – Bridgewater, SD

Jennifer Schulte – Cyber Operations - Watertown, SD

The DSU CyberCorps is administered by College of Computing faculty members Dr. Josh Pauli, Dr. Tom Halverson, Dr. Kyle Cronin and Mr. Mike Ham. There are currently 30 CyberCorps scholars at DSU, which is one of the largest CyberCorps programs in the nation. Since its inception in 2010, the DSU CyberCorps Program has supported 60 students.
