Diversity coordinator named keynote speaker
January 9, 2017
Dakota State University is hosting a January 12 program in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
While the national holiday will be observed on Monday, January 16th, the campus program is being held on Thursday, January 12, at 7 p.m. in the Tunheim Classroom Building auditorium.
Dr. Mark Edwards, Coordinator of Diversity and Inclusion at DSU, will give the keynote address. His presentation is titled “Life’s Journey,” and considers what Dr. King’s message means to him and how it’s impacted him.
It covers “the take away from what [King] was trying to accomplish,” he said.
Edwards, a native of Wewoka, OK, started in this position on October 31, 2016. He is a graduate of SDSU with a Ph.D. in sociology, and has worked as a college professor and as a diversity director.
The program will last about an hour, and refreshments will be provided, he added.
The public is invited to attend, as are faculty, staff, and students.
