Get me out of here! Escape the Room Experience
November 30, 2015
You turn up early to class, but one of the students in your study group is late. As a joke, your classmates decide to lock your late friend out, only to find that you have accidentally locked yourselves in. To escape, you realize that there are a series of clues to a hidden key. If you don’t solve the clues and find the key, then you’re all in trouble, because your finals are coming fast.
Could you escape the room in 15 minutes?
On Thursday night, December 3rd, students in Dr. Berry’s Evolving Stage class, an upper-division course in the English for New Media program at DSU, are presenting a live-theater experience Escape the Room Game, a team-based, puzzle solving experience that challenges participants to break out of a locked room within 15 minutes.
Immersive experience escape games have developed in popularity worldwide and are so sought after that they already have their own category as must-do experiences on sites like TripAdvisor. These experiences, based on popular video games, illustrate a new generation of entertainment migrating away from our smudged screens into real life. CNN featured a story recently calling escape rooms “the new it game” (http://edition.cnn.com/videos/us/2015/11/26/escape-rooms-the-new-it-game.cnn/video/playlists/cant-miss/).
Just another regular day of classes at DSU.
