A letter from the provost and academic VP
January 30, 2017
Dear Faculty, Staff and Students:
On Friday, January 27, President Trump signed an Executive Order that suspends entry into the United States “of both nonimmigrants and immigrants” from at least seven countries for 90 days from the date the Executive Order was signed. We write today to offer to you our support.
Dakota State University is strengthened by your presence on our campus. We are all enriched by your talent, by your culture and traditions, and we are very glad you are here.
While the current situation is difficult and raises fear among all of us, please be reassured that we support your presence here. We value all you bring to our university and to our community, and we value your culture and heritage. We are fortunate to have you here, and we are enriched by and appreciate your diverse talent, culture and contributions. The world comes to Dakota State University and to Madison through you.
We all need to remember that we are one Dakota State University. In these troubled and uncertain times, we need to support each other and continue to treat each other with respect, with civility and with the dignity that every human being deserves.
Dick Hanson, Ph.D.
Provost and Academic Vice President, Interim
Dakota State University
