April 24, 2017
Two DSU student employees were awarded honors for their on- and off-campus work at the 2017 Dakota State University Honors banquet held April 11.
Alicia Karst was named the 2017 off-campus Student Employee of the Year. She is a certified nursing assistant at Bethel Lutheran Home in Madison. She was nominated by Bethel employees Emily Hofman, staff development and therapy nurse, and Sandy Bordewyk, director of nursing.Â
Karst puts the Bethel residents first, said Bordewyk and Hofman in their nomination letter. They noted her work ethic and teamwork skills, along with her strong leadership and patient personality which make her an outstanding CNA. She is a general studies major from Las Vegas, Nevada.
Tessa Weeldreyer works in the Office of Career Services, and was nominated by Janelle Nielsen, program assistant I. She noted Weeldreyer’s initiative in the nomination letter, along with new ideas and suggestions she has. As the on-campus winner, her name was submitted to the Midwest Association of Student Employee Administrators (MASEA), and she was named the state of South Dakota winner as well. Weeldreyer is a health information administration major from Parker, S.D.
