Preparation + opportunity = success

That's the DSU equation. We're a four-year university with nationally recognized programs, cutting-edge facilities, and the brightest thinkers. But we're also a tight-knit, inclusive community. Small class sizes mean hands-on training and individualized attention. All this with an affordable, public school price that's among the best values in the region.

The Beacom College of Computer and Cyber Sciences

Defsec is hosting a cyber defensive competition to practice for the main Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (CCDC) and to have fun practicing our cyber skills.

This competition format consists of multiple blue teams competing to have the best service uptime and one red team attacking them. The blue teams of about 5 people are given an environment of around 9 systems and need to secure the environment while the red team actively attacks it. Each blue team gets points for their scored services (a website, ssh server, file share, etc...) remaining up and accessible and loses points if the red team is able to exfiltrate 'sensitive' information out of their environments. Blue team also submits 'injects' for points which are short written reports on the environment or tasks such as "Inventory all systems in the environment" or "Add a new administrator account."

We will have checklists and mentors available to help out! Come practice and learn cyber defensive skills and have fun!
