Dakota State United Kingdom trip still has openings

December 20, 2019

The Dakota State United Kingdom trip set for June of 2020 still has openings.

The trip, organized by Dr. Deb Tech, is open to those between the ages of 18 and 80 who are able to walk a lot. The trip will take place from June 5-16, with participants leaving June 4 and returning June 17.

It will begin in London, touring Piccadilly, Westminster, the Houses of Parliament, the River Thames, the Tower of London, and Buckingham Palace. It will include a visit to Cambridge, York, and Durham, and time for people to explore on their own.

Next the group will travel to Scotland visiting Edinburgh, Inverness, Loch Ness, Fort Augustus, and Glasgow. It will include a boat trip on Loch Ness, a trip to the Highlands of Scotland, and castles (including one from the Harry Potter movies).

The trip will end in Ireland with the tour visiting Glasgow and Belfast on the way to Dublin. They will also have time to enjoy the countryside of Ireland by visiting Powerscourt, Kilkenny, Cashel, Cork, Kinsale, Killarney, and Limerick. There will also be visits to the Cliffs of Moher, the Monastic ruins in Clonmacnoise, the ruins of the Royal Abbey, and Ashford Castle, a medieval castle that has been turned into a hotel.

The price of the trip is $2,660 which includes hotel (double occupancy), breakfasts, and transportation in England, Scotland, and Ireland. This price does not include airfare. All those going on the trip will be responsible for booking their own flights.

Those interested in joining the trip can contact Nicole Claussen to arrange the deposit of $400. This deposit is non-refundable, and checks/cash are preferred. Credit card payments will incur an additional 3% fee. Claussen can be reached in the International Programs Office at Dakota State or by phone at 605-256-5744.
