Dakota State University students walking around campus

Preparation + opportunity = success

That's the DSU equation. We're a four-year university with nationally recognized programs, cutting-edge facilities, and the brightest thinkers. But we're also a tight-knit, inclusive community. Small class sizes mean hands-on training and individualized attention. All this with an affordable, public school price that's among the best values in the region.

DSU announces plans to reopen its campus for Fall 2020

May 1, 2020

Dakota State University plans to resume on-campus operations for the Fall 2020 semester. This will include face-to-face classes, along with the online courses normally offered at DSU. This decision is made in conjunction with the Board of Regents (BOR) and other regental schools.

Since the pandemic began early this year, Dakota State administration and employees have been working diligently to create effective plans for the university to remain open for business and execute their prime function of educating students, while keeping those students and staff safe and healthy.

“As we return to campus, our mission is two-fold,” said President José-Marie Griffiths, “the success of our students, along with the health and safety of those in our DSU community, as well as those in the extended communities. Whether on-campus, online, or teleworking, these will continue as our primary goals.”

SDBOR officials also said in a statement that they will be guided by safety, science, and the institutions’ educational mission, with a priority to balance the significant value of on-campus teaching and learning with an equal responsibility to protect community health and safety.

Dakota State is working on the logistics involved in bringing students and employees back to campus safely, and holding face-to-face classes and events. More information on these protocols will be released in the coming weeks.

Because of the dynamic and fluid nature of the pandemic, the university is considering protocols for a number of scenarios, and will be ready to respond to the potential changes. For the most up-to-date information, go to the coronavirus alert pages at DSU.edu.
