Podhradsky explains digital forensics on ‘Mission Unstoppable’

Digital forensics is like solving a mystery.

Dakota State digital forensics expert Dr. Ashley Podhradsky will help unravel cell phones mysteries on the January 15 CBS Dream Team show “Mission Unstoppable” episode.

She accepts a challenge from correspondent Fig O’Reilly to find deleted images on a cell phone. Throughout the process, Podhradsky explains concepts such as logical and physical extractions, and location meta data. She also offers recommendations on secure passwords, and how to understand what and when information is shared on a phone.

The show, intended for viewers from 10-15 years old, celebrates and empowers women and girls to change their world through science, technology, engineering, and math. This is very much like the mission of DSU’s outreach program CybHER, which Podhradsky co-founded.

“If you like to understand how technology works, this is a field you should explore,” Podhradsky said.

The show is set to air at 10 a.m. ET on CBS, but viewers should check local listings for exact times in their market area.

Podhradsky will also be featured on the Mission Unstoppable Twitch stream on Monday, January 24 at 6:15 p.m.
