Rasmussen to speak at USDLA National Distance Learning Week

Sarah Rasmussen will be discussing building peer connections and social capital in online learning as a panel member during the United States Distance Learning Association’s (USDLA) National Distance Learning Week (NDLW) on Thursday, Nov. 6.

Dakota State is a member of USDLA, a non-profit focused on instructor development in distance education, according to its website. NDLW is a weeklong online event providing free digital and distance learning programming, according to their website.

Rasmussen will be on a panel discussing Building Peer Connections and Social Capital in Online Learning. She will be joined by Nathan Watson from Lindenwood University and Katy Kappler from InScribe.

The description for the panel states “higher ed leaders will share how digital communities foster belonging, peer support, and social capital—helping students persist and thrive. Attendees will gain strategies to engage diverse learners, scale support through resource sharing, and boost retention and outcomes.”

Rasmussen’s panel is scheduled for noon on Thursday, Nov. 6.

The annual online event’s theme this year is The Great AI Disequilibrium. In addition to panels and presentations, each day has time for networking and discussing topics with other attendees.
