  • DSU team “Ideamonk” named one of top 8 of global analytics competition
  • Education majors go to Belize on spring break, taking 1,100 pounds of books to donate to schools
  • Men’s basketball coach Gary Garner named NSAA Coach-of-the-Year 


  • Sen. Mike Rounds speaks at 2016 DakotaCon 
  • DSU team wins 2016 North Central Collegiate Cyber Defense competition and advances to nationals
  • Five women’s basketball players break 9 records in record book
  • Men’s basketball team earns back-to-back NSAA titles



  • Campus looks to future construction with celebration kick-off for Beacom Institute of Technology
  • GenCyber camps on campus, and STEAM camp for teachers
  • Nine DSU teams earn NAIA Scholar Team recognition


  • Cyclobs lab “MadLabs” launched by SD BOR grant
  • Demolition of former clinic building takes place on first week of classes, first step in renovation of new residence hall/learning engagement center. Also renovation of student union Trojan Center underway.


  • Dr. Justin Blessinger and student Andrew Jorgenson’s beacon project receives $10K grant from SD Community Foundation
  • Fall Enrollment grows to almost 3,200
  • 135-year-old College of Ed celebrated at Trojan Day
