Non-Faculty Exempt Council Charter

I. COMMITTEE MISSION

The mission of the Non-Faculty Exempt (NFE) Council is to enhance the communication link between campus and NFE members; promote a culture of recognition of NFE members; encourage active involvement of NFE members in campus activities; provide a unified voice for NFE members, including representation on selected campus committees; and bring any concerns forward to senior administration.

II. COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP AND APPOINTMENTS

  • The NFE Council represents current NFE employees. The Council is comprised of voting and non-voting members, and membership is explicitly identified in by-laws to include:

    • NFE Council President* (non-voting)

    • NFE Council Vice President/President-Elect* (non-voting)

    • NFE Council Secretary/Treasurer* (voting)

    • NFE Council members, nominated as representatives from their respective employee divisions. Divisions are based on the University’s organizational chart, representing each member of the President’s Cabinet and the NFE employees that report to them.

      • Divisions with 20+ current NFE employees will have two voting members that will serve two-year terms (one representative elected in an odd year and one representative in an even year). Open positions do not count in the NFE employee numbers.

      • Divisions with less than 20 NFE employees will collectively serve as General/At-Large representatives. The General/At-Large will have approximately one voting member for every 10 NFE employees. Open positions do not count in the NFE employee numbers. These representatives will serve two-year terms. The NFE Council may round up or down to get an even number, with half of the representatives being elected in an odd year and the other half in an even year. The General/At-Large representatives can be from any of the divisions that have less than 20 NFE employees.

The composition of NFE Council will be reviewed annually, prior to the election process.

*Any current NFE employee may be nominated and elected to be an officer.
