Dakota State University students walking around campus

Preparation + opportunity = success

That's the DSU equation. We're a four-year university with nationally recognized programs, cutting-edge facilities, and the brightest thinkers. But we're also a tight-knit, inclusive community. Small class sizes mean hands-on training and individualized attention. All this with an affordable, public school price that's among the best values in the region.

Join DSU for Day of Giving

September 10, 2023

The Dakota State University Foundation invites the Madison community to RISE UP and help DSU reach the goal of raising $250,000 for Day of Giving on Thursday, Sept. 14. Day of Giving coincides with Dakota State’s homecoming celebration, Trojan Days.

From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., a livestream will be available to follow along on the progress, hear from DSU students, faculty, and staff, and catch live interviews from campus throughout the day.

Last year, The DSU Foundation raised $288,438 for scholarships on Day of Giving. Over 1,300 donors from 50 states and four countries supported 28 areas of need at Dakota State.

In addition to Day of Giving, Thursday is Day of Service, an afternoon dedicated to giving back to the Madison community. DSU students, faculty, staff, and alumni assist local businesses, organizations, and more with projects like cleaning up, crafting cards for care facilities, organizing, and collecting supplies for good causes. There are projects available for those who work or study remotely so that they may give back in their home communities.

Following Day of Service activities, the public is invited to a Community Carnival hosted by DJ Jer from 4 to 7 p.m. on the Trojan Center lawn. The carnival will include food, inflatables, yard games, music, and more. The DSU Student Senate, DSU Foundation, and Student Activities Board sponsor this event.

Friday evening, the annual Trojans Together Homecoming Social will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. in The Beacom Collaboration Center for faculty, staff, and community members.

Saturday, DSU will hold the annual Trojan Days Parade on Egan Avenue at 10 a.m. Tailgate begins at noon west of the Dan Beacom Track Complex, with the kickoff for the game against Valley City State at 4 p.m. The Trojan Zone will be open from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and at the field from 2 p.m. until halftime of the football game.
