Breaking Through
Higher Education Evolved
If you're scared to think big, you'll only take tiny steps. DSU isn't afraid to think big. We have a vision: transform South Dakota into a nationally recognized cybertechnology hub. We're breaking barriers and breaking through perceptions about what a South Dakota school can do – one degree at a time.
We're Leading What's Next
Madison Cyber Labs
This $18-million building is the first research facility of its kind in the Upper Great Plains. MadLabs® research teams push the limits of cyber technology in fields like artificial intelligence development and ethical hacking.
The Beacom College of Computer & Cyber Sciences
Not many computer programs have certificates of excellence from both the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security. DSU does. We're leading the way in growing tomorrow's cybersecurity leaders today. In fact, we've seen steady increases in enrollment over the last several years, and our cybersecurity program has grown by 8% within the same timeframe.
Summer Camp Done Differently
Here's a fun fact: DSU hosts the largest GenCyber Camp in the country. Every summer, more than 425 middle and high school students get a crash course in everything digital. It's just one way DSU is advocating for cyber education.
“It's the dawn of a new era for DSU.”
President José-Marie Griffiths

Jamie Westra - Class of '16
RISE Special Education Teacher at Patrick Henry Middle School
"DSU prepared me for success after college by helping me gain the steps to continue to move right into my occupation. I had the right people behind me cheering me on to be the best I could be and had me moving up the steps quickly with my current job."
Alex Garcia – Class of '22

Mike Halverson – Class of '88

"This is a special place because of the incredible faculty and unique degree programs. I think the biggest benefits are the skills and knowledge a student will acquire. The relationships and friendships developed at DSU stay with a person a life time."
Brandon Schmit – Class of '20
Tax Associate at Eide Bailly, LLP
"The biggest benefit of attending DSU was the class sizes and getting to have the personal interactions with professors and really getting to know people on campus. I really enjoyed my time on campus and although I was very busy with classes, work, football, and track and field I had a great relationship with my professors."
Dustin Groen – Class of '19

"The biggest benefit about DSU is that you are not just a number. The instructors at DSU care about you not just as a student but as a person. It's a great opportunity whether you're looking for the traditional college experience or, if you're like me, a non-traditional student looking to further your education."
Fran Shupick – Class of '81
