The Ethics in Technology Certificate will examine the use of technologies to ensure that companies are accountable and don’t exploit user vulnerabilities or infringe upon user rights such as privacy and data protection.

Completion of this certificate will empower students to demonstrate a broad understanding of relevant literature on ethical issues, gain an awareness of the importance of considering ethical implications in making decisions, and use ethical reasoning to anticipate issues that arise in the use of technology to create plans for avoiding them.

Facilitating purpose

It’s increasingly important that organizations use ethical reasoning to anticipate and avoid issues that arise in the use of new technologies like artificial intelligence. DSU's ethics in technology program will introduce methods to successfully facilitate, and translate requirements and directives into standard operating procedures.

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of the certificate in ethics in technology, students will:
