DSU offering short webinars on virtual teaching

Dakota State University’s College of Business and Information Systems faculty will offer the lessons and tips they’ve learned about virtual instruction. These will take place Tuesday, April 28, Wednesday, April 29, and Thursday, April 30.
Tuesday’s 12-minute session will be taught by Dr. Michael Roach and will focus on using business simulations in and out of the classroom. The session will discuss the contrasting challenges of using business simulations in class vs. online and synchronously vs. asynchronously.
Wednesday’s session, Building Bonds with Breakout Rooms will be taught by Dr. Deb Tech. The session will provide a demonstration of the easy-to-use breakout room tool. It will include suggested assignments for the class that will encourage relationship building and increase student collaboration will be shared as well. The session will begin at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29 on Zoom.
The final session will be taught on Thursday by Dr. Wendy Simmermon and will focus on creating engagement with chat and polls. Simmermon will offer suggestions on how to use Zoom polls and chat to engage students and keep them on task during a live class. The session will begin at noon on Thursday, April 30 on Zoom.
