Research Compliance
At Dakota State, we are committed to research integrity. We promote the responsible conduct of research and ensure that faculty, staff, and students are compliant with relevant federal and state regulations and guidelines.
We have committees and policies in place to ensure regulations are properly followed. Please use the links below to learn more about export controls and human subjects.
Responsible conduct of research
As a baseline to guide our research compliance efforts, all DSU researchers are required to train regularly on basic concepts of responsible research conduct. We manage these offerings through the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) and through regular hybrid in-person/virtual training hosted in partnership with Karl Mundt Library and the Paulson Cyber Incubator and Entrepreneurial Center.
Export controls
Export Controls are federal laws that govern how technology, technical data, technical assistance, and items or materials (from software to satellites and more) are physically or electronically exported, shipped, transmitted, transferred, or shared from the U.S. to foreign countries, persons, or entities. These laws protect national security and U.S. foreign policy interests, prevent terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and preserve U.S. economic competitiveness.
Human subjects
Dakota State University protects the rights and welfare of human research subjects recruited to participate in research activities conducted by DSU faculty, students, and/or staff.
