Preparation + opportunity = success

That's the DSU equation. We're a four-year university with nationally recognized programs, cutting-edge facilities, and the brightest thinkers. But we're also a tight-knit, inclusive community. Small class sizes mean hands-on training and individualized attention. All this with an affordable, public school price that's among the best values in the region.

Dr. Cody Welu has joined the Dakota State University Alumni Board. In addition to being an alum, Welu is a faculty member at Dakota State.

Welu earned all three of his degrees from Dakota State, a bachelor’s in computer and network security, a master’s in applied computer science, and a Ph.D. in cyber operations. He is an assistant professor of computer and cyber sciences in The Beacom College of Computer & Cyber Sciences at Dakota State.

Welu’s continued involvement with DSU inspired him to join the DSU Alumni Board when an opening became available.

“I am heavily invested in the success of Dakota State University as an alumni and faculty member,” Welu said. “I believe promoting DSU to the community and alumni will continue to be a major factor in the success and continued momentum of DSU.”

Welu is in a unique position on the alumni as he works with current students and has formed relationships with recent graduates.

“As an assistant professor on campus, I’m currently teaching classes in the three major programs in the Beacom College, having the opportunity to directly interact with nearly every upperclassman in some of the largest majors on campus,” he said.

By joining the Alumni Board Welu hopes to help engage more alumni.

“I’m heavily invested in DSU and its success,” he said. “As we grow, a continued increase in alumni engagement, both financially and otherwise, will be essential for the university.”
