The NCTA program is for high school teachers who are:

  • teaching a cybersecurity course or have plans to teach cybersecurity in the near future,
  • building a robust cybersecurity program at their school, and
  • willing to dedicate time to rigorous, graduate level coursework in cybersecurity.

 

Curriculum Design

The 18-credit hour Graduate Certificate in Computer Science and Cyber Education offered at DSU follows the NCTA curriculum design. This fully online program aims to enhance teachers' disciplinary knowledge in computer and cyber sciences while building their pedagogical expertise.

Delivered through DSU's learning management system and the Power Cyber Lab, the curriculum prepares teachers to teach dual enrollment courses via the Governors Cyber Academy and meet South Dakota's secondary computer science and IT endorsement requirements. It targets rural teachers, equipping them with a broad understanding of cybersecurity concepts to address their students' diverse needs and interests.

Apply for the NCTA Scholarship

To apply for this scholarship you will need:

  • Cybersecurity course description/syllabus
  • A copy of your teaching license
  • A copy of your college transcripts
  • A support letter from your administration explaining their commitment to continue offering cybersecurity at the school

If you do not qualify, or are not selected for the scholarship, you are still able to, and encouraged, to apply for the MSET program!
