We are a small university that provides individual, personal attention to all of our students, but with all the amenities of a bigger university. We offer an exceptional educational opportunity while experiencing the true culture of the midwestern United States.

Preparing for DSU

Life in Madison, S.D.

Madison is a small, safe community nestled between two lakes, located about 50 minutes from Sioux Falls, South Dakota's largest city. Madison's population is around 6,500 and has small town charm yet all the conveniences of a larger city. You can enjoy tons of recreation opportunities such as lakes, parks and hiking trails.

South Dakota Climate

South Dakota is known to have a humid continental climate, which means hot, humid summers and cold, dry winters. You will be able to fully experience each season at DSU. The summers (June-August) average temperatures of about 80-90 degrees Fahrenheit (26-32 degrees Celsius) and the winter months (December-February) average temperatures of 20-30 degrees Fahrenheit (-6-0 degrees Celsius). You can also build a few snowmen while you're here, with approximately 40 inches of snow per winter season.
