Admission requirements

We admit students into our Master of Science in Educational Technology (MSET) program in the fall, spring, and summer semesters 

To apply, you must:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an institution with full regional accreditation for that degree. Your degree does not need to be in education
  • A minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
  • A basic knowledge of computers and their applications for educational purposes. You should be able to demonstrate this knowledge with a technology endorsement from an accredited university or an in-service position as a full- or part-time technology coordinator in a public school
  • A personal statement of technological competency. The statement should be no more than two pages and should come with supporting documentation or URLs
  • Satisfactory GRE scores on a test taken within the last five years*

*You do not need the GRE if you meet one of the following requirements.

  • A cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale for a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university in the U.S.
  • Official admission into and demonstrated success in a regionally accredited graduate program in the U.S. Demonstrated success is defined as grades of A or B in at least 9 hours of graduate work.
  • Graduation with a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university in the U.S. at least 15 years ago or more.

You do not need a teaching certification to apply to this program.

Application deadline

Please send in your application by:

  • June 15 for admission for the following Fall semester
  • November 15 for admission for the following Spring semester
  • April 15 for admission for the following Summer semester

Please be aware that the application deadline is subject to change to accommodate available capacity and program needs. We encourage you to submit your application as early as possible.

Graduation requirements

Our MSET program requires a total of 30 credit hours beyond the baccalaureate. This includes:

  • Successful completion of all courses listed on your MSET Plan of Study within the five-year time limit
  • Achievement of a GPA of at least 3.0 (a "B" average), with no more than six credit hours of a "C" grade and no grade below a "C" in the courses on your Plan of Study
  • Satisfaction of Regental standards for residency, which include no more than seven credits transferred from other universities
  • 23 required credits and seven electives
  • A web-based exit portfolio
