Preparation + opportunity = success

That's the DSU equation. We're a four-year university with nationally recognized programs, cutting-edge facilities, and the brightest thinkers. But we're also a tight-knit, inclusive community. Small class sizes mean hands-on training and individualized attention. All this with an affordable, public school price that's among the best values in the region.

CAHIT

Center for Advancement of Health IT (CAHIT)

A large component of the Center for Advancement of Health IT (CAHIT) began as the state’s regional extension center, named HealthPOINT. This was made possible by federal funding with the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act in 2009. HealthPOINT assisted a wide variety of healthcare providers in implementing electronic health records (EHRs). The relationships that have been established by industry partners are an important part of moving forward with opportunities for CAHIT.

HealthPOINT has now evolved into the CAHIT MadLab, complementing many of the other DSU Madison Cyber Labs (MadLabs) as a hub for research, development, and economic opportunity. The CAHIT MadLab focuses on research, service, and workforce development opportunities in the cyberhealth space including areas such as:

  • Digital health technologies in all aspects of healthcare, including but not limited to:
    • Telehealth
    • Virtual care/remote patient monitoring
    • Patient generated health data (PGHD)
    • Healthcare interoperability
    • Population health
    • Health equity/social determinants of health
  • Opportunities and impact of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare
  • Privacy and security in healthcare
  • Data analytics in healthcare, including but not limited to:
    • Data/information/AI governance in healthcare
    • Data analytics combining multiple healthcare data sources

CAHIT welcomes partnerships, whether it be for research opportunities (including research subawards) or healthcare industry needs. The lab has researchers with years of healthcare experience along with students in various degree programs who can assist in research or industry opportunities.

Reach out to the lab director for information about partnerships, specific projects, timelines or additional contact information.
